Established in Montreal in 1995, Claude Cormier + Associés Inc. is an internationally recognized practice that extends far beyond the conventional realm of traditional landscape design to forge bridges between urban design, public art, and architecture. The landscapes they produce are likewise anything but conventional, celebrating the artificial and surreptitiously altering reality with the surreal. The works of Claude Cormier + Associés are distinguished not only for their inventiveness – but also for their tenacious optimism in the power of design.
The firm has been privileged to work on major public work in Montreal, Toronto and elsewhere internationally. Projects include the restoration of Square Dorchester, Place Youville in Old Montreal and Lipstick Forest at the Palais des congrès in Montréal, as well as HTO Park and Sugar Beach on the Toronto Waterfront. Also in Toronto is the recent transformation and adaptive re-use of the Don Valley Brickworks into an ecological and cultural centre for Evergreen, and the public landscape for the new Four-Seasons Hotel and Residences in downtown Toronto. Internationally their work includes the Montreal Garden in Shanghai, Pergola and Solange in France, as well as Blue Tree and Blue Forest in the USA.
