Under the leadership of partners Liu Xiaodu, Meng Yan and Wang Hui, URBANUS is a think tank providing strategies for urbanism and architecture in the new millennium. URBANUS was set up in 1999 and has Shenzhen and Beijing companies. The name of "URBANUS" derives from the Latin word of "urban", and strongly reflects the office’s design approach: reading architectural program from the viewpoint of the urban environment in general, and the ever changing urban situations in specific.
URBANUS has participated in nearly 300 projects of architecture design and urban planning. The completed works range from culture, education, office, commerical space, living, interior, landscape & environment, urban design and research, renovation & regeneration, public art installations for dozens.
URBANUS was selected to the AIAs publication Architectural Record as one of the most influential TOP 10 design institutes in 2005. It won the T+A 2007 China Architecture Deign Institute Award of Time Architecture, won the Special Residential Architecture of China Architecture Media Awards in 2008, obtained the China Awards Architectural Record of Business Week several times and the WA China Architect Prize of The World Architecture, etc.
