Song Weijian was born in 1959 and graduated from Architecture Department of Shenzhen University. He was fascinated in drawing when he was very young. Song was engaged in industry design in the early years of his career. Then in 1980s, he moved into the field of interior design, now specializing in the design of restaurant, club, hotel, museum, and building reconstruction. He is the deputy director of China Institute of Interior Design (CIID), the chief designer of Shanghai Vjian Design Office. He was evaluated by 10 architecture & interior design related media as the top ten influential interior designers in China in consecutive years of 2011 and 2012. Holding the world view of advocating nature and the combination of nature and humanity, he has a deep research and development of Chinese traditional culture in his design, and this is also the core concept for Vjian Design. Recent years witnessed the creation of a series of space projects and original products with the characteristics of “new Jiangnan style language” which generates a profound influence.
