Ibuku is an international design-build team creating a new way of living. We exist to provide spaces in which people can live in an authentic relationship with nature. We do
this by designing fully functional homes and furniture that are made of natural substances and built in ways that are in integrity with nature.
Best known for creating the architecturally award winning bamboo buildings at Green School, our current project, Green Village, is community of 18 private homes located
within walking distance to the river valley campus and a natural extension of the growing international green community.
We build lightly on the land, redefining the meaning of luxury with a clear conscience. Bamboo is strong, with the compressive force of concrete and the strength to
weight ratio of steel. Each bamboo pole is uniquely curved, each a strand of DNA that together form and inform a structure. With it’s three-year growth cycle and carbon
sequestration it is a uniquely efficient and responsible resource. Our bamboo, selectively harvested from local sources, is treated ecologically, then lab tested to confirm its
durability and integrity.
Inspired by the culture and landscape of Bali, we are committed to adding value immediate and sustained value to our local communities. We cultivate the skills of local
artisans and craftspeople, merging ancient techniques with cutting edge innovation while creating a responsible and positive model for sustainable growth. We have caused
Bali to become the center of the bamboo building and innovation worldwide. Our intention is that over the next 5 years bamboo becomes highly desirable and accessible to
both the highest and lowest socioeconomic levels.
