Naf Architect & Design is a design unit based in Hiroshima and Tokyo.
In 2000, Tetsuya Nakazono and Akio Nakasa, peers at Hiroshima University, cofounded the office in Hiroshima. In 2001, another office in Tokyo was founded.
Since then Nakazono has been based in Hiroshima, and Nakasa in Tokyo.
Hiroshima is a provincial city which develops while succeeding rich nature and local culture which still remain abundant. Tokyo, on the other hand, is the capital of Japan which abounds in people and goods, always in transition for new trends. Two offices engaging in projects under different circumstances enables the unit to share objective perspectives toward each other by exchanging information and ideas. These are the perspectives necessary to determine, without the influence of circumstances, what kind of architecture is essentially required there.
We set value on our fexible stance which is similar to that of viewing a map from various scales and view points, from Hiroshima, Tokyo or both.
