Stephen Williams Associates
Stephen Williams is a British architect based in Hamburg Germany.
Born in Port Talbot, Wales in 1963, Stephen Williams studied at City of Birmingham Polytechnic and Canterbury College of Art graduating in 1988. After working in London with well respected architects such as Elia Zehngehlis at OMA (Checkpoint Charlie Berlin) and Piers Gough (Janet Street-Porters House London), he has been based in Germany from 1994 developed working collaborations with Architects such as Williams Alsop from Alsop & Störmer based in London and Hadi Teherani in Hamburg.
After winning the competition ‘Side’ Hotel in 1998 with Alsop & Störmer, one of the first true design hotels in Germany opened up his own office in 2000. One of the first clients was the Punk Rock legend Malcolm McLaren for whom he designed the ‘Casino of Authenticity and Karaoke’ an award winning installation of the life and times of this cultural Icon at the Bonnefanten Museum in Maastricht Holland . Quickly following were more music industry clients and Stephen Williams built the Headquarters of Universal Music in Berlin in 2003 and Warner Music in 2005.
Recent projects in Germany include the Autostadt’s ‘Premium Clubhouse’, a presentation of the spectacular Bugatti Veyron in its own pavilion. A collaboration with artists including Anselm Reyle.

Bosch/Siemens Household Appliances for whom in 2010 he designed a flagship shop concept which is he is currently implementing worldwide in emerging markets including Asia and India.
Being close to the world off communication, and using architecture as communications tool The office was asked to re-design many Advertising agencies in Europe and Asia, Uniplan in Cologne Germany and their worldwide offices in Shanghai, Hong Kong and Beijing. Currently completed is the Directors floor of Germany most successful creative agency ‘Jung von Matt’ in Hamburg.
