Architecture office Kavakava OÜ was established in 2002. Company consists of a core group of architects and landscape architects based around one design philosophy but opened for different co-workers and new ideas. Kavakava works are site—specific, highligting the potentialities of a particular place. The purpose of architecture is to provoke new situations. Architecture is a living art—it is sensitive and emotional while intervening.
Most Kavakava projects are public buildings or urban space designs based on prize-winning proposals for open architectural competitions. Next to practice, active participation in numerous academic and theoretical discussions and teaching at the university are held important. Their works include the Museum of Occupations in Tallinn, Pärnu City Centre Sports Hall, Lotte kindergarten in Tartu, Narva College of the University of Tartu and the visitors centre for the Estonian Open Air Museum. Their works are published widely and have won several awards.
