The interpretation aimed to communicate the pre-colonial and industrial history of the site, as well as its connection to the Harbour. Visitors can experience the history of the site through exploration and or directly through informative historical panels.

Much of the park and the interpretation is intended to be experienced by children – there is an emphasis on discovery and less focus on didactic storytelling. The challenge of the interpretive elements was to allow the fragments to be ‘discovered’ and not to be immediately apparent.
