The design concept of The Spaghetti House was dipped into the essence and phor of the traditional Italian noodle – Spaghetti. The elasticity of spaghetti is expressed through the fluid lines drawing different images of wonderland such as oversized dragonflies, butterflies, horses, swans, trees and branches, a girl and a violin on the ceiling, gliding and intersecting, to create a jovial life inversely reflecting the scene at the dining tables. And the robustness of spaghetti is solidified into the long and thin strips of moldings and wallpapers. The fusion formed by strips and twists exudes senses of Italian humour and scents of living.
To celebrate the beauty of life and nature, the image of spaghetti is formulated into bold strokes and painted throughout the wall. The image of spaghetti drawn on the striking wallpaper was traversed and wrapped around the whole dining hall with sprinkles of a distinctive aroma. The black ceiling was covered with a white element using many hexagon wooden units combined by rectangular leaf die-cut plagues, creating an intensive spatial disposition. The work conveys a strong message of the delightful fantasy in integrating spaghetti into life.
