There were two design challenges with this Living Wall project. The first was concealing the drip irrigation lines and the second was plant selection. To meet the first challenge, a drip supply line kit was installed during the wall construction and situated between the blocks. The entry point is at the bottom of the back of the wall, and the exit point is in the middle of the wall on the front side, from where the supply line is connected to the Living Wall Planter Drip Kits; supply lines are designed to be concealed inside each watering tank. The final challenge, plant selection, was hindered by the fact that the wall faces south and is blasted by the hot, unforgiving Arizona sun. Although succulents are native to the Southwest, few can handle full exposure to the sun, especially when one of the requirements from the homeowner was no thorns. Please see the Plants tab for a full listing of the plants used in this project.
