This penthouse apartment in the inner su burbs of Sydney was designed by Di Henshall to allow the owner, who travels extensively, to come and go with a minimum of fuss and to be able to entertain and accommodate frequent international guests with ease.
Glamorous wallpaper and wall to ceiling mirrors plus an oversized mirror designed by Christopher Guy have been used to create dramatic results. In the dining room, kitchen and stairway, buff coloured wallpaper with silver flocked medallions creates the perfect backdrop for the eclectic style.
Furnishings including original art deco armchairs in black and white striped velvet and an embossed leather ottoman unified with a backdrop of silk wallcoverings to create a sophisticated formal lounge.
In the guest bedroom flocked black and white striped wallpaper leads the eye towards the twelve panel padded bedhead upholstered in ebony velvet damask. The custom made art deco bedside tables in brushbox and anagre veneer complete the picture.
A floor to ceiling mirror in the dining area reflects the crystal chandelier with dining chairs upholstered in black linen with a decorative gold motif adding a touch of luxury.
The study has been cleverly designed using solid timber panelling in brushbox and anagre, with built in desk, liquor storage and book shelving with low voltage lights and discreet storage. The panelling conceals a fold down bed for last minute guests.
