White spacious interiors, clean lines and a splash of colour brought in through lights sums up the design of this gorgeous home by Mumbai- d Sonali Shah, Principal Designer, mybeautifulife. However, it is not just the elegant design but the thought that has gone into each element that makes this home a sheer delight.
"In India, we are often skeptical about using white because it is thought to be difficult to maintain. But, I love using it, especially in residences, although a lot of effort goes into convincing clients on how the right use of materials can make even white easy to maintain", says Sonali .
In this home, she has used materials like Corain and laminations in white, which can be cleaned easily with a dry cloth. Moreover, she has opted for a simple, straight line approach for all the design elements, avoiding too many corners where dust could accumulate. The motive of the design was to make this home look contemporary, clean and spacious - something that she has achieved beautifully.
In the living room, Sonali has used sofas with low backs to avoid interruption of view and has opted for roller blinds instead of flowing curtains. A subtle glass mosaic highlights the television wall and breaks the monotony of white. The glass dining table with transparent chairs further accentuates the minimalist look and allows uninterrupted views right from the entrance, which has been segregated through a long console and a fibre optic light screen. When switched on, this screen adds colour and drama. A large circular mirror with a crystal cut design reflects the beauty of the living room, further accentuating its size and adding to the ambience. In the master bedroom, a cantilevered bed keeps in step with the minimalist look of the house. Sonali has skillfully provided storage in the upper part of the bed, thus creating both aesthetics and functionality.
