Araldi1930 Asia’s Flagship Boutique is a gallery of belt tower installations with a unique display system, with design inspiration drawn from all parts of a belt.
The design coined by Grey Canopy for Araldi1930 was one that form-follows-function as the brief given by client was to display as many belts possible as the space allowed. A secondary challenge to the design team was that the leather belts needed to be hung straight to avoid any damage to the handmade leather pieces.
One key challenge was an existing structural column smacked in the centre of the retail space. In responding to an existing column, the design team made use of the column to be part of the curvilinear interior space planning where curved walls were made of l pipes, encircling the belt tower. Another two belt towers were constructed using steel structures, such that at any one time, over 350 different leather straps, and 120 buckles can be displayed.
Each belt tower houses between 80 to 120 leather straps of different widths and are harnessed onto each “rib” using the brand’s belt accessory – a belt pin. The belt pin is otherwise used to hold the buckle to varied leather strap lengths.
The rotary buckle tray allows the shopper to choose and match preferred buckle to the belt strap.
A curvilinear wall display system forms the backdrop of Araldi1930 that allows the retailer to display either shoes, bags or more belts using of wooden peg.
